Police Arrest 14 Suspects In Connection With Benishangul-Gumuz Conflict

Addis Ababa – Fourteen suspects have been detained in connection with recent conflict in Metekel zone, Benishangul-Gumuz regional state.

Eight people were killed and 11 others injured in the conflict that occurred in Mandura woreda (district) in the regional state.

They were arrested on suspicion of murder and instigating the conflict, said Abera Bayeta, head of regional state’s peace building and security bureau.

Police also seized several metal-tipped arrows and a gun, he added.

As a result of the joint efforts of the regional state’s security force, the defense army, and the federal police, the area has been returning to stability, he indicated.
