A fire erupted in three cars and a warehouse near Dubai International Airport on Sunday.

Civil Defence said the fire began at 12.25pm in the cars parked near Abu Baker Al Siddique Metro station in Deira before it spread to the warehouse.

Police said that the warehouse appeared to be storing gas canisters.

Though the fire sent smoke over Dubai International Airport, a spokesperson said that operations were not affected by the blaze.

Police temporarily closed Salah Al Din Street and all roads to Al Khubaisi area for one hour from 2.45pm as a result of the fire.

Meanwhile, residents took to social media to share pictures and videos of the black smoke billowing into the air.
