Houses to Hold Joint Session

Addis Ababa (ENA) – The Houses of Peoples’ Representatives and Federation will start parliamentary activity for the current fiscal year in a joint session on Monday.

The two Houses, which were in recess for the past three months, will begin their fourth year parliamentary activity in a joint session with the speech of the President of the country.

During tomorrow’s joint session the President of the country will present a motion that will indicate the direction of the government in this fiscal year.

The President is expected to present details of the socio-economic and political areas that the government will give due attention during the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

In a presser she gave on Sunday, Mufriat Kamil, Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives said the House has undertaken various activities during its recess in order to deepen the reform.

As part of the reform, the House will open its own media outlet to reach out the entire public across the country, the speaker indicated.

It is also reforming the checking and balancing system in order to implement a strong follow up mechanism on the activities of the executive body.
