Ethiopia Shuts Schools, Public Gatherings over COVID-19 Concerns

Addis Ababa ( ENA) – As tested positive cases for COVID-19 rises to five, Ethiopia announced that it will shut schools, sports activities and meetings from Monday for the coming 15 days.

Ethiopia confirmed on Sunday that three cases tested positive for the COVID-19.

A person who reportedly came from Dubai is tested positive for coronavirus today, which brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to five.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has, therefore, ordered the immediate closure of schools, sport activities and public gatherings in the move to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

This decision has come today after a consultation with various stakeholders including Ethiopian Airlines, Ministry of Education, Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), and Ministry of Health at the office of the Prime Minister, it was indicated.
