Addis Ababa – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedu Andargachew, received the United Nations (UN) Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, at his office today.
After extending his gratitude to the support the UN office has been providing to the country, Gedu said the Government of Ethiopia is ready to work together with the Special Envoy on issues regarding the region.
Foreign Minister Gedu also said Ethiopia will strengthen its efforts of maintaining peace in neighboring countries.
The Special Envoy praised Ethiopia for its efforts to uphold peace and bring stability in the Horn regional particularly in Sudan, South Sudan, and Somalia.
He also hailed the peace deal reached between Ethiopia and Eritrea after nearly 20 years of impasse. The peace deal would help to bring stability to the region.
The Special Envoy further said his office is ready to cooperate with Ethiopia in capacity building, particularly in training diplomats.
