STOCKHOLM – Citing a deteriorating security situation, Sweden ended its airlift from Kabul on Friday after evacuating more than 1,000 people.
Foreign Minister Ann Linde said Swedish diplomats, military personnel and citizens were removed along with current and former Afghan employees of the Swedish government as well as others.
Still a number of Swedish citizens, Afghans who worked for the Swedish military and members of civil society were not airlifted out, Linde said.
