Coast Guard seizes foreign fishing vessel in Maldives waters

Maldives Coast Guard have seized a foreign fishing boat with the Somali flag while it was inside the Special Economic Zone on Wednesday night.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said Coast Guard seized the boat at around 10:50 p.m., 76.5 nautical miles west of Th. Hirilandhoo.

Citing the boat’s captain, MNDF said the boat was carrying 10 crew members, who were from Thailand, and 200 tonnes of fish.

Afte seizing the boat, Coast Guard began efforts to take the boat to capital Male’.
