The most senior executive in Spanish football, Angel Maria Villar, and his son have been arrested.
Spanish police said they raided several offices belonging to the country’s football federation in Madrid as part of an anti-corruption investigation.
Villar, his son – named in the media as Gorka – as well as several other federation executives were arrested on allegations of collusion, fraud and embezzlement, authorities said.
Villar sits on FIFA’s executive committee and has been head of Spain’s football federation for nearly 30 years.
