Almost 400,000 victims of repressions have been rehabilitated in the last 63 years after the death of Joseph Stalin, Igor Shaboltanov, a senior official from Russia’s Military prosecutor’s office, said as cited by Interfax. “The process of [political] rehabilitation in our country took place in two stages. The first stage began in 1953, almost immediately after Stalin’s death,” he said, adding that from 1953 to 1961, almost 270 thousand political prisoners were rehabilitated. The process began again in the 1990s and continues, he said.
